I struggled to look beyond two steps initially, but I've improved and can now think three steps ahead in some scenarios. My goal is to extend this to two more sets of movements.
I see my decision-making capability in real-life activities improving: quick decisions, all scenarios I have been checking.
Lessons Learnt
The game is over once it is over.
After losing my queen or most of my pieces, I've noticed that my opponents need more confidence, move their pieces faster, and make mistakes.
In one game, I only had the king left, while my opponent had a queen and a rook. Despite their advantage, the game ended in a draw because I had no available moves.
Whenever there is a chance of check and you are uncertain whether will it be checkmate, always proceed.
People get anxious in check and move pieces without thinking.
Always save your pieces.
Do not play kamikaze style. If your piece can safely return to a spot, then do it. Give it another chance to attack.
